Marco Furio Camillo Minutillo e sua moglie Maria Addolorata (De Candia) migrarono da Molfetta verso Fremantle, nell'Australia occidentale, nei primi anni Cinquanta, i figli quest'anno hanno deciso di festeggiare il nuovo anno con i loro parenti italiani, molfettesi, il risultato? Un grande bel ricordo che rimarrà nel cuore di tutti.
Noi dell'associazione Oll Muvi, quelli di I Love Molfetta, gli abbiamo incontrati, grazie a Beppe Paparella (u sindc d mlfetta vecchie), nei pressi del suo laboratorio Spirito & Sandracca, nel centro storico, tra i vari racconti non è mancata l'occasione di parlare della festa a Fremantle dedicata alla devozione per la Madonna dei Martiri.
Ci hanno descritto in breve la loro vacanza a Molfetta.
Marco Furio Camillo Minutillo and his wife Maria Addolorata (De Candia) migrated from Molfetta to Fremantle, Western Australia, in the early fifties. Maria gave birth to seven boys, the eldest of whom was Nicolavito, the only one born in Italy. In January of 2017 Nicolavito announced that he was going to spring a surprise visit on the family in Molfetta and asked who of the brothers wanted to be in on the surprise. After some consideration, his younger bothers Francesco and Ettore, with their wives and offspring, put up their hands.
And so it was that nine Minutillo’s from Fremantle made their way to Molfetta, staying at the Villa Poli, an exquisite setting among fruit trees, chirping birds and panoramic views from the back verandah. It was this location that saw the coming together of the Australian and Italian branches of the family. The highlight being new years eve with food, wine, singing, dancing and a night that will live long in the memories of those who were there.
